The Chief Probation Officer is responsible for the administration of the Santa Cruz County Probation Department which includes adult and juvenile supervision and rehabilitation, work furlough and delinquency prevention and control. This position is appointed by the Judge of the Juvenile Court of Santa Cruz. The Chief Probation Officer develops the annual budget and controls program activities with budgetary limits. The total budget is over $17 million with 125 positions. The incumbent selects, directs and evaluates subordinate staff; coordinates policy and program requirements with the Superior Court, the Municipal Court, the County Administrative Officer, the Board of Supervisors and the Juvenile Justice Commission. The Chief Probation Officer obtains grant funding; coordinates with state and local welfare and criminal justice agencies; confers, advises and cooperates with community groups, advisory bodies and others concerned with Probation Department programs. The incumbent confers with staff on special case situations; represents the department at state and local meetings and conferences; and prepares, reviews, and presents a variety of oral and written reports, records and documents.

DC Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services (DYRS), Superintendent - Youth Services Center (YSC)  - Vacancy #21045

The incumbent serves as the Superintendent of the Youth Services Center (YSC), a secure facility for youthful offenders. This position administers the facility and participates in the development of programs which are designed to address public safety and rehabilitate delinquent youth. The Youth Services Center is responsible for providing 24-hour, 7-day-a-week custody, supervision, care and treatment for youth. The incumbent will be charged with managing and overseeing the YSC facility, including youth, staff, managers, volunteers, contractors and visitors. Provides overall guidance, interpretation, personnel and program management to all programs, such as Treatment, Operations, Recreation and Culinary and works in a leadership role with the school, medical, maintenance and procurement divisions.
